Bimodal Gene MapperBimodal Gene Mapper (BGM) is a systems biology software tool that analyzes genetic expression data in search of bimodal behavior. It has the following key features:
The BGM-calculated expression threshold values are primarily used as input to the GNE discretization engine. But the analysis of genetic expression levels made available by BGM can also be used for locating key target genes in drug discovery. |

Normalization & Discretization StrategiesBGM uses several different strategies for analyzing expression data and discriminating between active and inactive states. Initially all the imported experiment data is normalized by platform, probe and experiment to enable comparable results. Thereafter the discretization thresholds are calculated either by value density, value separation or a combination of strategies. The result of the threshold calculation can be easily visualized in GNE. Either by superimposing discretized data onto any genetic network, or by investigating expression levels and thresholds for each individual gene. |
